Book the Ajmer Shatabdi (12015) — it leaves Hazrat Nizamuddin at 6am and gets you in for breakfast. The Shatabdi is AC only; book 2 weeks ahead for weekend travel. If you miss it, the Pink City Express (12453) is a reasonable backup. Avoid the Intercity Express — it stops everywhere.
