Free. Boat hire: ₹150–300 per person per hour (negotiate).

Dawn (5–7am) for the pujas; or arrive 30 minutes before the evening aarti
Time required
1–2 hours for aarti; a morning on the ghats is 3+ hours
How to reach
Rickshaw or walk from Godaulia Chowk, 500m. No vehicles allowed on the ghat approach lanes.
Insider note
The 5am boat ride is worth every second. Hire from the boatmen at the stone steps — not from touts on the lane above. The fog on the river at dawn is the whole reason you came.
